New Holland innovation makes the difference for David Errington
The Errington family farm near Cockermouth covers 600 acres with dairy, sucklers and some arable land. Now into the second generation involved at Ann Field Farm, David Errington has continued to move with the times and his investment in New Holland tractors has been a key part of that development. He recently purchased these two tractors – the T7.210 and the T6.145 – to replace earlier models of the same machines as the advancements between the two versions were worth the change. “I liked the improvements that had been made between the T7.200 I had before and the new T7.210”, said David. “The family has bought tractors from Lloyd Ltd since 1965 and every time we get a new one it’s because New Holland have made the changes that you would make yourself. They have clearly been listening to farmers.”
The T7 is mostly used for the arable work – drilling, ploughing, and spreading fertiliser and slurry. It’s also used to pull his Pottinger forage wagon so David needed one that is big enough to keep on top of the grassland operations. However, while the new T7 is more powerful than his previous machine, David is enjoying the increased fuel efficiency of this latest model and the savings that can bring.
For the T6 the benefit was the increased road speed as it can now go to 50kph, a 10kph increase on his former tractor, which is ideal as he purchased it to take his KEENAN feeder wagon on the road through the winter to cover different locations. “This will really speed the job up and it’s comfortable on the road”, David commented. “There has also been a vast improvement in the gearbox – the new DCT transmission is fantastic!”
“We have had a very good relationship with Lloyd Ltd for over 50 years,” said David. “I’m born and bred with blue tractors!”.
